Project goal
As part of the elective Design for Social Innovation, we were asked to develop a new idea that can support transformation for the Brabants Outcomes Fund (BOF), a fund for local, societal-focussed enterprises. Considering all the topics that are related to the BOF, it was decided to focus on social inclusion.
-
Client
The Brabants Outcomes Fund is an outcomes fund in the province of Bra bant. The fund is meant for enterprises in the region that focus on societal challenges. Being an outcomes fund, the BOF pays out when the enterprise has reached the agreed goal. Besides funding, the investors coach the enterprise during the process. The BOF does not focus on new solutions, but on initiatives that have been proven to work and are now ready to scale up.

Process
Using the Transformative Practices (TP) framework as a paradigm (Hummels et al., 2019) the design process started. The first step into this project was the creation of a storyboard about the process BOF and a start-up plus its stakeholders. The ideation phase was continued with three individual brainstorming sessions resulting. In four iterations, the BOF’s Box is designed, during which the usability and aesthetics were further developed.
-
My role
In this project, I contributed to the ideation, conceptualisation and validation.

Final design
Our final design, the BOF’s Box, is a data generating tool to support the BOF during the assessment process of the enterprises. The tool collects data from the target group, as they are the people that actually experience the effect of the enterprise. The user group can fill in a questionnaire about the influence the enterprise has on their life. The data gathered from the questionnaire will be used to visualise the results of the enterprise.
