Crosslit is a smart crossroad that helps blind people safely cross the road. The 3D-pattern on the pavement informs blind pedestrians where the crossing is located. When a pedestrian wants to cross, LED’s on the sides of the crossing light up to increase visibility. To preserve energy, the LED’s are only triggered in the dark. They will stay on very a couple of seconds after the pedestrian has left the pavement. An infrared sensor on the road near the crossing detects if the car has stopped to give priority to the pedestrian. If the car stops, music starts to play. The music indicates the car has stopped, so blind people know they can safely cross the road.

The main subjective of this project was to implement basic electronic skills in a design context.
